At last night’s AGM at Hester’s Way Community Resource Centre, board members pointed to exciting opportunities ahead for Cheltenham Borough Homes (CBH).
Attendees included CBH’s executive team, Cheltenham Borough Council‘s cabinet member for housing Cllr Peter Jeffries and leader of the council Cllr Steve Jordan.
Cllr Jordan thanked CBH and the board for all the hard work to date and stated that they were crucial to delivering the council’s vision for the town.
He said: "This is a really exciting time for the town. This week’s announcement of a £100million commitment to new housing in Cheltenham will help us to provide much needed affordable, high quality rented accommodation and help grow our local economy.
"The work that Cheltenham Borough Homes do will be crucial in delivering that and I'd like to thank the board for all they have done to date. I look forward to starting this exciting new chapter alongside them."
CBH's Chief Executive Paul Stephenson gave a presentation on what we’ve achieved to date, before looking to the future and the opportunities ahead to achieve our aims of ‘Great Homes, Stronger Communities and Inspired People’.
He said: “I’m grateful to the board for their support and holding us to account to make sure we do the best for our tenants.
“We have clear targets in place for 2020, as well as the recently announced £100m investment to help us deliver brand new housing – It is a really exciting time for us.”
Jason Langley, chairman of the board, gave a presentation focussing on the work the board does and the need to line up with the core principles of CBH’s work and contribute to that in the process.
He said: “I’m really proud of the work we do to help improve the lives of tenants. This AGM was an opportunity to go through the successes we’ve experienced and the challenges ahead.
“We know there’s lots more to be done but we’re excited about the opportunities ahead of us to help create a Cheltenham that people thrive in."
