Local residents and businesses are being asked for their views on a proposed new housing development in Swindon Road, Cheltenham.
Cheltenham Borough Council and Cheltenham Borough Homes (CBH) are working together to provide 24 new affordable homes on an unused brownfield site at 320 Swindon Road. To support Cheltenham’s response to the climate emergency CBH are looking to deliver homes that exceed current building regulations and take into account other aspects such as biodiversity and fuel poverty considerations.
Steve Slater, CEO Cheltenham Borough Homes said: “We are committed to breathing life back into unused areas across Cheltenham and these homes will bring community and a new purpose to this corner of the neighbourhood. The intention is that the homes will be available as both rented and shared ownership, helping to reduce the number of people waiting for an affordable home in Cheltenham.”
Councillor Mike Collins, Cabinet Member for housing added: “I am excited to see the views of local people on the proposed development and how it could have a positive impact on the local area. These homes will be another great example of the council and CBH working together as part of the £180m housing investment in Cheltenham’s future, to deliver a range of high-quality affordable homes throughout the town”.
Following engagement with local residents and businesses in April 2021, Cheltenham Borough Homes is inviting residents and business-owners to give their views for a period of three weeks between 28th June 2021 and 16th July 2021.
Plans of the development and a questionnaire will be available online via cbh.org/proposed-development-of-320-swindon-road.
For anyone unable to access the proposals online or if to receive a paper copy, please contact communityinvestment@cbh.org or call 01242 387593 to speak to one of the team.
This consultation for twenty four new affordable homes follows hot on the heels of the completion of twenty seven affordable homes at Radford Court, three properties at Cordwainers Road and eight properties at Ingleborough Mews.
