We are thrilled to announce Cheltenham Borough Homes (CBH) has been shortlisted in two categories for the 2021 Tpas awards.
The prestigious awards event, now in its 14th year, celebrates the remarkable volunteers, housing staff and contractors who bring lasting change to communities across England.
CBH has been shortlisted in the following categories:
- Excellence in Community Action – for supporting the Monkscroft Action Group
- Community Focused Service of the Year - for providing Wellbeing Wednesday’s and Foodie Friday’s
The Monkscroft Action Group began following a community impact day held in the summer of 2019 by CBH and partner organisations to address some of the issues raised by the local community. Following this, colleagues supported residents to meet weekly and harness the passion felt by local people to bring about positive change by setting up the group.
Wellbeing Wednesday’s and Foodie Fridays were started to improve people’s emotional wellbeing and confidence and to help communities stay connected during the pandemic whilst using their time at home to learn valuable skills in cooking and arts & crafts. Since they began in April 2020 the community Facebook groups have received more than 36,500 views and member have grown significantly.
Tpas chief executive, Jenny Osbourne MBE said: “Tpas are proud to present to the sector the only national awards dedicated to celebrating tenants, landlords and commercial housing organisations working in partnership to save money, improve services and create lasting change in communities. We’re looking to celebrate and reward those that have navigated Covid-19 alongside delivering a high quality standard of engagement for their organisation and community. We will undoubtedly shine the spotlight on people who have made a profound impact on the lives of many people”.
Emma Wall, Director of Properties and Communities, CBH added: “Congratulations to the team for their nomination which recognises the immense impact our colleagues make in our communities. We are extremely proud of the work we do to support the people who live in our homes. They are the people who our communities are built around, and sometimes they need support from us to help them achieve their goals. This nomination is recognition of the efforts of our colleagues to make this happen, and I couldn’t be prouder.”
Councillor Mike Collins, Cabinet Member for Housing, Cheltenham Borough Council said: “These nominations embody the positive, partnership working that CBH embraces to help our communities thrive. The last year has seen everyone experiencing very different circumstances and the ability for people to adapt and provide support in different ways is truly fantastic and makes a real positive difference to people’s lives.”
