Have your say…
Welcome to the public consultation for the development of 320 Swindon Road.
We are working together with Cheltenham Borough Council, as part of the £180m housing investment in Cheltenham’s future, to provide more affordable homes across the town.
As part of this we are looking to develop an unused brownfield site at 320 Swindon Road into 24 affordable homes.
The aim is to bring new purpose and breathe life back into this corner of the neighbourhood and want you to have your say.
We know sustainability is important to you, as a partnership we are always looking to the future and sustainability is a key priority with the design of our homes. Not only will these 24 homes be designed to high performance standards they will be greener, helping to minimise carbon emissions.
We want to hear from you as part of the public consultation running from 28 June 2021 to 16 July 2021.
Indicative plans…
Following the feedback given from the initial consultation in April 2021, we’ve put together a proposed design and we would appreciate your feedback.
The proposed site plan, shows the layout of seven new houses and 17 one and two bedroom apartments.
Parking will be provided within the complex and the new houses located on Richards Road will have driveways with off-road parking. The entrance to the complex will be off Malvern Street.
Bicycle parking, bin storage and outdoor areas are also included within the scheme.
From previous consultations we know outdoor spaces are important to you. There is a focus on private and public outdoor living spaces which provide a natural place for people to relax and wildlife to thrive.
The design makes plenty of space for trees and greenery, which contributes positively to reversing the decline in biodiversity. Space has been provided for wildlife to flourish, including bat, bee and bird boxes and hedgehog highways. Raised planters will provide food growing spaces for residents.
Solar panels, green roofs and low carbon construction have been incorporated to respond to the climate emergency and provide a more natural living environment.
The homes are designed to contribute to and integrate into the surrounding area, using attractive brickwork and landscaping.
