If you want to end your tenancy you need to fill in and return one of the forms below:

If you hold a joint tenancy with someone and you are both moving to a new home, you both need to sign the Tenancy Termination Form below. If only one of you is moving out, or if only one is left to move out, please use the option below for ending a joint tenancy when one person has left.

1. If you are a joint tenant with someone, and you have left and want to end the tenancy please use:

2. If you hold a joint tenancy and one of the joint tenants has died, please contact your Tenancy Management Officer.

- Your home needs to be left in a clean and tidy state, with no damage
- No belongings (including furniture, curtains, carpets, laminate flooring, light fittings) or rubbish are to be left in the house or garden or outbuildings
- Your property must be empty and no one living there
- You must tell the utility companies (gas, water, electric) you are moving
- Arrange with the Post Office to have your mail redirected
- Clear your rent account with us
- You must provide us with your forwarding address
PLUS – If you claim benefits, you need to let Cheltenham Borough Council’s benefits team know you are moving and give them your forwarding address.
If you have been a CBH tenant for at least 6 months you may be eligible for an Empty Homes Bonus cash payment of up to £190 when you end your tenancy. In order to qualify you must leave your home in good condition. Yes! You can apply to mutually exchange if you hold a secure or assured tenancy with Cheltenham Borough Council, CBH or another social landlord such as a housing association.
You can register for FREE at www.homeswapper.co.uk to view properties in Cheltenham or another area of the UK. This gives you the widest choice of properties with CBC, CBH and other social landlords.
To register for our local exchange scheme, complete a Home Exchange Advert available from Hester’s Way Community Resource Centre Office or Oakley Community Resource Centre. Your advert will be placed on the noticeboard with other tenants interested in exchanging CBH or CBC properties.
If you find a tenant who wants to move into your property and you would like to move into theirs, you can apply to your Tenancy Management Officer.
To apply both parties need to complete a Home Exchange Application Form and wait for CBH approval.

If you want to move somewhere bigger, smaller, sheltered or just a different location visit the county-wide Homeseekerplus website.
We advertise properties available for rent and you can bid on the one’s you are interested in.
If you’ve been a CBH tenant for at least 1 year and are looking to downsize to a property with fewer bedrooms the My Move Scheme can offer you financial help to move.
If eligible, you can choose from one of the following options:
- £500 OR removals arranged and paid for up to a cost of £500
- Removal of rubbish (up to 5 bulky items and 10 black bags) OR Bonus Scheme payment
- Disconnection and reconnection of cooker and washing machine
